Laozi's "Tao Te Ching" is full of the dialectical law of unity of opposites. One of the manifestations is that it is strongly against war, but once faced with a war situation, it will kill and fight decisively. This is in line with the natural law of "the opposite is the movement of the Tao". Therefore, we should avoid going from one extreme to another. Excessive force will hurt ourselves. Don't push others too much. Taking international examples as an example, major powers should not underestimate Ukraine and force it too hastily, causing Ukraine to restart nuclear weapons.
On October 17, when attending the EU Council, Ukrainian President Zelensky said that he had told Trump that the way for Ukraine to win in the military confrontation with Russia is either to restore Ukraine's nuclear weapons capabilities or to join NATO, and Ukraine is more inclined to choose the latter. This is a soft but hard, cotton-covered needle, obviously a diplomatic game.
As the world's third largest nuclear power, Ukraine has the potential to regain nuclear power in terms of industry, technology, talent, and nuclear materials. However, after they voluntarily gave up nuclear weapons, the security protection promised by international powers failed to be fulfilled, which led to the occupation of the country and the killing of people. The United States, Europe, and NATO have always been very cautious in their support for Ukraine, with many concerns and constraints. During the campaign, Trump emphasized that the war could be ended within 24 hours, but he did not specify what method would be used. Ukraine must have prepared self-protection countermeasures, and restarting nuclear weapons should be one of them.
Lao Tzu is against war, "When the world is righteous, horses are used for manure; when the world is unrighteous, war horses are born in the suburbs." When the world is righteous, war horses should be used for economic production, and when the world is unrighteous, even pregnant mares go to the battlefield. The handed-down version of the Tao Te Ching says: "Weapons...are used when it is necessary, and tranquility is the best." But the older version of the silk book Laozi says "Weapons...are used when it is necessary, and sharp attack is the best." Tranquility means being indifferent and quiet, while sharp attack means attacking with sharp weapons. In the ancient version, we should make the greatest efforts to strive for peace, but if we have to fight, we should use thunderous force and kill with one strike.
The Russian-Ukrainian war was mired in the quagmire of war because one side overestimated itself, despised the opponent, rashly raised troops, and started the war rashly without the ability to kill with one strike. The United States and Europe originally appeased, but later saw that Ukraine could resist, and hesitated in supporting it, with strength but no courage. Both sides are the targets of Laozi's criticism.
Peace is a blessing, and a ceasefire should be made, but the interests of the warring parties must be properly handled, otherwise the war will be difficult to extinguish. For Ukraine, restarting nuclear weapons is a lever to prevent being abandoned by the United States and Europe. Although it will encounter realistic pressure and difficulties in international law, it has corresponding potential and occupies a certain moral high ground in Europe and the United States, which can complicate the situation. This is not a blessing for the world.
"The opposite is the movement of the Tao." People should not go to extremes when doing things. Be careful not to hurt yourself when throwing a boomerang. Weapons have great lethality and recoil. We should reflect on the rampant corporate wolf culture in society and the law of the jungle in international issues. Heaven is fair. What you lose here, you gain there. When you are in trouble in this period, you will rise in another period. When you encounter setbacks, you don't have to waste your energy. When you develop, don't be arrogant. Be kind to others, leave room for maneuver, oppose war but don't be afraid of it, and remember Lao Tzu's warning that "the strong and violent will not die well."
老子《道德经》洋溢着辩证法的对立统一规律，体现之一就是既强烈反战，又一旦面临战局就杀伐决断，这是顺应“反者道之动”的自然规律。所以，要避免从一个极端到另一个极端，用力过猛会伤及自身，不要逼人太甚。以国际事例来说，大国不要轻视乌克兰而逼之太急，引发乌克兰重启核武装。

作为原世界第三核大国，乌克兰在工业、科技、人才、核材料等方面有重新拥核的潜力，而他们当年自愿弃核后，国际列强所承诺的安全保护未能兑现，才有了如今的国土被占领，人民被杀戮。美欧、北约对乌克兰的支援一直非常谨慎，顾虑重重，束手缚脚。特朗普竞选期间强调能在24小时内结束战争，但没说明采用什么方法。乌克兰势必准备了自保反制之术，重启核武装应是其中之一。
老子反战，“天下有道，却走马以粪；天下无道，戎马生于郊”，天下有道，战马要用于经济生产，天下无道，连怀孕的母马都上了战场。而传世本《道德经》中说：“兵者……不得已而用之，恬淡为上。”但更古老的版本帛书《老子》则为“兵者……不得已而用之，铦袭为上。”恬淡是淡泊安静，而铦袭是以锋利的武器猛力袭击。于古本而言，要最大努力争取和平，但万一要打仗，就要出雷霆万钧之力，一击必杀。
俄乌战争正因一方高估自己、轻视对手，冒然兴兵，莽撞开战，又没有一击必杀的能力，遂深陷战争泥潭。而美欧原本绥靖，后见猎心喜于乌克兰能够抵抗，在支持上又瞻前顾后，有实力而无胆魄。双方都属于老子批评的对象。
和平是福，理应停战，但交战双方的利益诉求要有适当处理，否则战火难熄。对乌克兰来说，为防止被美欧抛弃，重启核武装是一个可用的杠杆，虽会遇到现实压力和国际法的难关，但因拥有相应潜力，在欧美又占有一定的道德高地，能使局势复杂化，这终非世人之福。
“反者道之动”，人做事不要走极端，掷出回旋镖要当心打伤自己，武器杀伤力大，后座力也大，对社会上泛滥的企业狼性文化和国际问题上的弱肉强食问题应有反思。天道公平，此处失去、彼处得到，这一期困顿、另一期兴起，遇挫折不必精神内耗，得发展不要盛气凌人。要与人为善，做事留余地，反战而不畏战，铭记老子警告的“强梁者不得死”。
