of December 4, Qiong Yao, a famous Chinese romance novelist, committed suicide
and died, shocking the literary world. The past is gone, but the future can be
pursued. While we are regretting the withering of this life, we should grasp the
Taoist view of love and life, and even the philosophical basis behind it.
Does Taoism also
have a view of love? Isn't Taoism a Taoist who sees through the world, lives in
seclusion, and is detached from the world? In fact, this is a misunderstanding.
Taoism emphasizes letting nature take its course, not going against the will of
heaven, not violating human nature, and not acting recklessly.
Love is a human
instinct, with its biological basis. It is naturally produced and continued by
the secretion of hormones, dopamine, etc. in the body. This is God's
arrangement. Artificially blocking this is not the Taoist way of inaction, but
a reckless act against heaven.
Sex is a
beautiful thing for humans, and it is also necessary for the continuation of
life. This is the will of nature. From Laozi's words, the existing documents
unearthed from Mawangdui, Tao Hongjing of the Southern Dynasties, Sun Simiao of
the Sui and Tang Dynasties, to Zhang Sanfeng of the Ming Dynasty, there are
records about sex science, which is a kind of Taoist practice.
In the eyes of
Taoists, practicing Taoism is to improve people's quality of life. Love focuses
on natural admiration, while material and fame are lighter weights on the
scale.
For love, do not
act recklessly, do not be afraid of love, and do not be trapped by love,
because Taoists value life and value self. Being trapped by love is like
hurting yourself for the pursuit of material desires, fame and fortune. They
are all losing the big picture for the small and putting the cart before the
horse.
Early Taoistm such as He Shanggong and others used health preservation to infer the
governance of the country, and health preservation was the first priority. The
pre-Qin alchemists and later Taoists pursued immortality and ascension to
immortality. All of these are to preserve life and attach great importance to
the body.
But is the
Taoist preservation of life simply a matter of fear of death? Is it better to
live a miserable life than to die? Although it is human instinct to love life,
Taoists regard the preservation of life as more important than love, wealth,
power, and status. The fundamental point is freedom.
In Laozi's Tao
Te Ching, he always emphasizes the inaction of heaven and earth and the
monarch, allowing all things and people to gain freedom. He always advocates
that the spontaneous order of the universe and the invisible hand of the market
play a role, and life is free and unrestrained in this environment, and
"all things rise and develop on their own initiative."
And in his
opening work "Xiao Yao You", Zhuangzi describes the ideal state of
freedom and unrestrainedness of the enlightened people, laying the foundation
for his unremitting pursuit of spiritual freedom and the ideological theme of
breaking free from the shackles of the world.
As the four-line
poem widely circulated in China: "Love is precious, but life is more
valuable. If it is for freedom, both can be thrown away!"
The body is the
carrier of the spirit, and freedom is the original appearance of the spirit. If
life is just a speck of dust in the universe, a purely accidental natural
phenomenon, and has no meaning from an outside perspective, we, as the parties
involved, can fill this blank paper with what we love, give meaning to life,
and live the way we want.

than the chance of winning the lottery, and you are an animal, and you are
actually a human! This is already a wonderful hand of cards you were born with,
how can you waste it!

道家也有爱情观吗?道家难道不是看破红尘、离群索居、超然物外吗?其实这是误读。道家讲究顺其自然,不逆天道、不违人性、不妄为。爱情是人的本能,有其生物基础,受身体荷尔蒙、多巴胺等的分泌而自然产生和延续,这是上天的安排。对此人为堵塞,非道家无为之道,而是逆天的妄为。
性是人类美好的事情,也是生生不息的繁衍所需,这都是大自然的旨意。从老子的只言片语、现存的马王堆出土文献、南朝陶弘景、隋唐孙思邈到明代张三丰等的著作中,都有关于房中术的记载,这是道家的一种修炼术。
在道家看来,修道是为了提高人的生活质量。爱情重在自然而然的爱慕之情,而物质、名位在天平上的砝码更轻。对于爱情,不妄为,不为生情而惧,也不为情所困,因为道家贵生,重自我。为情所困,就如同于为了追逐物欲、名利而自伤一样,都是因小失大、本末颠倒。
早期道家如河上公等人,以养生推论治国,又以养生为首务。而先秦方士、后世道教则更以长生不死、飞升成仙为诉求。所有这些,都是要保全生命,把身看得极重。但道家保全生命,只是简单的贪生怕死吗?是好死不如赖活着吗?虽然恋生是人的本能,但道家把保全性命看得比爱情、财富、权势、地位都更重,根本点是为了自由。
在老子的《道德经》中,始终强调天地无为和君主无为,让万物、百姓获得自由,一贯主张让宇宙的自发秩序和市场的无形之手发挥作用,生命在这个环境中自由奔放、自主创造,“万物自化”。而《庄子》在其开篇之作《逍遥游》中,描述了悟道之士的自由自在、无拘无束的理想状态,奠定了他对精神自由的不懈追求和挣脱世俗桎梏的思想主旨。正如中国广泛流传的那四句小诗:“爱情诚可贵,生命价更高。若为自由故,二者皆可抛!”
身体是精神的载具,自由是精神的本来面貌。如果说生命只是宇宙中的一粒灰,纯属偶然的自然现象,站在天外来看,没有任何意义,但我们作为当事人,就自己在这张白纸上画满你的所爱,自己赋予生命意义,活出自己想要的样子。在宇宙的百亿年中,你机缘凑巧成为了生物,比中彩票的几率还低,还是动物,居然还是人!这已经是一出生就抓了一手绝妙的好牌,岂可虚度!
